All the News From the Final Smash Bros. Nintendo Direct

The final Nintendo Direct briefing dedicated to Super Smash Bros. Wii U/3DS was held today, and the 35-minute broadcast featured quite a few notable announcements. In case you missed the presentation or need a refresher, we’ve now collected those announcements and more into this post.

New Smash Bros Character Confirmed From Fire Emblem:

Corrin joins the fight, playable as male or female. The character arrives in February 2016 for Wii U and 3DS.

Final New Smash Bros Character Will Be Bayonetta

Nintendo announced today that the final DLC character for Super Smash Bros. Wii U/3DS will be none other than Bayonetta from the PlatinumGames franchise.

Smash Bros. Costume DLC


Nintendo didn’t only announce new Smash Bros. characters today, but also more costume DLC. Here’s a quick-hit list of all the costumes revealed during the broadcast:

  • Geno (Super Mario RPG)
  • Chocobo Hat (Final Fantasy)
  • Bionic Armor
  • Takamaru (game unreleased in US)
  • Ashley (Wario Ware)
  • Gil (Tower of Druaga)
  • Tails and Knuckles (Sonic)

More Amiibo Figures:


The next wave of Amiibo figures were on display during the event, including Ryu, Roy, and the Famicom ROB color variation. These toys, which leaked in November, officially go on sale starting March 18, 2016.

Nintendo also confirmed that Bayonetta, Corrin, and Cloud are getting Amiibo figures, too. More information, including pricing and release dates, will be announced later.
