It’s the pop star’s first name.
The American comic book publisher has filed an official opposition to Rihanna’s “Robyn” application with the U.S. Trademark and Patent Office, according to Comic Book Resources. The singer and actress, whose full name is Robyn Rihanna Fenty, filed an application in June 2014, planning to use the name with “providing online non-downloadable general feature magazines.”
The trademark and purposes for “Robyn” reportedly caught the eye of DC Comics, which thinks the name is too similar to Batman’s sidekick, Robin. The comic book publisher is worried that people might be confused about the similarities.
Rihanna now has 40 days to respond to the official opposition from DC Comics.
