The armor is so 2014.
Lex Luthor is joining a growing list of DC characters who are getting a major visual overhaul this summer. Luthor’s new look was revealed in a preview for June’s Batman/Superman #21, which was featured in Convergence: Justice League of America #2 this week.
While Luthor will be retaining the familiar green and purple color scheme that’s been his hallmark for decades, it’s clear the villain is opting for more of a street level approach. His traditional armor has been replaced by a trenchcoat, sunglasses and gauntlets. If anything, he seems to be taking fashion advice from Static of the Static Shock franchise.
Luthor joins characters like Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Flash and Green Arrow, all of whom are getting new costumes and new status quos as part of DC’s big post-Convergence relaunch in June. In the case of Batman, it’ll be an entirely different character wearing the new armored suit.
