Nintendo reaffirms its commitment to mobile game development.
During today’s financial report, Nintendo president and CEO Satoru Iwata announced the producer of Mario Kart will lead development on the company’s smartphone games.
Earlier this year, Nintendo announced a partnership with Japanese mobile gaming company DeNA to develop and operate new games specifically for smartphones. Nintendo hopes its new venture will help the company reach new generations of gamers, and plans on releasing its first mobile game by the end of 2015.
During the report, Nintendo also revealed it recorded its first annual profit in years.
