A documentary about Midway Games is currently seeking crowdfunding to tell “the untold story of the greatest video game studio of the ’90s.”

Called Insert Coin, the documentary is the brainchild of Joshua Tsui, a developer who worked at Midway during its golden age.

With Insert Coin, Tsui and his crew hope to dig into and document Midway’s history, including the development of games such as Narc, Mortal Kombat, and NBA Jam, seeing how they created games in the back of a pinball factory, and even showing footage of games that were eventually cancelled.

The crew is seeking $75,000 in funding, which will be used for travel and production expenses. Tsui claims to have a background in film, calling this a “passion project of [his] that marries both sides of [his] world.” At the time of writing, the campaign has raised $6,240 with 30 days remaining in its campaign. Several high-profile Kickstarter campaigns have launched recently, including the record-breaking Shenmue 3 and Keiji Inafune’s Red Ash.
