Sega Announces Total War Spin-Off Series

Sega has announced a Total War spin-off series called Total War Saga.

According to a post on the official Total War blog, this new line of spinoffs will focus on key historical flashpoint—such as civil wars, as opposed to entire eras—and will build on previous Total War games.

The spinoffs won’t be shorter or smaller than mainline Total War titles and are said to be similar in scope and focus to the Total War: Shogun 2 expansion Fall of the Samurai.

“Total War Saga games will be the same mix of turn-based campaign strategy, real-time battle tactics, and hundreds if not thousands of hours of gameplay as a regular Total War game, but focused down on a distinct moment,” said Jack Lusted, the director on the studio’s first Total War Saga game.
