SNK celebrates Neo Geo 25th anniversary, drops games to $1

SNK Playmore released the Neo Geo console in 1990, promising to bring the perfect arcade experience to your living room. Sounds like a dream, yeah? No emulation. No crummy ports. The real deal on your TV! Well, that’s going to cost you about $600, so… yeah, that idea didn’t really work out.

Despite the crash its console attempts took, SNK still was a top quality game developer with a love for simple action games and flashy sprites, and you can check out some of its greatest hits on the App Store and Google Play market. To celebrate 25 years since the Neo Geo launched, a handful of SNK’s best and brightest are available for just $1!

Check out the full list below.

  • Fatal Fury Special
  • Garou: Mark of the Wolves
  • Metal Slug X
  • Metal Slug 3
  • Metal Slug 2
  • Metal Slug 1
  • The King of Fighters ‘98
  • The King of Fighters ‘97
  • The King of Fighters-i 2012
  • The King of Fighters-i
  • Samurai Shodown II

The only game I really have any experience with here is Metal Slug 3, and absolutely, I’m going to be picking it up. Fans also swear Garou: Mark of the Wolves as being one of the best fighting games of all time. Samurai Showdown 2 also fills a desperately empty niche of samurai based fighting games, so I’m going to pick up those three.

Yourself? This sale will last until May 7.
