Death never sleeps.
Dark Souls III may not mark the end of the franchise as previously thought.
In a Bandai Namco statement provided to IGN, the Dark Souls publisher said: “Dark Souls III brings certain story elements to a conclusion. With that said, we’ll reveal more news about the future of the franchise in the coming months.”
After officially unveiling Dark Souls III at Microsoft’s press conference, Bandai Namco revealed in a European press release that the newest game would be the last in the challenging action-RPG series. However, the publisher’s latest statement seems to take a few steps back from that position.
Dark Souls III is planned to release early next year. Series creator Hidetaka Miyazaki is returning to direct the third installment after taking a supervisory role with the sequel.
