Injustice Gods Among Us: New trailer gets personal

New footage of NetherRealm's superhero brawler features in-game Lex Luthor

Warner Bros has released to CVG the latest trailer for its upcoming superhero brawler Injustice: Gods Among Us.

Having already demonstrated the potential of a fighting game that pits DC Comics icons against each other, the latest trailer appears to be hinting at the wider narrative which will tie the game together. It also, briefly, features in-game footage of the newest confirmed character Lex Luthor.

The NetherRealm developed title is due for UK release on April 19 for PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii U.

Oh, man, I've been wanting this game for forever now. <3 See that? That's a heart. That represents my burning desire for this game.

I'm going to be honest, I've never really gotten into comics. That's not to say I don't like the characters, I just know them all from games, cartoons, and movies. And since they got the voice of Batman from the animated series, Kevin Conroy, in this, it only makes it want it more. I loved the new Mortal Kombat when it came out, it utterly wrecked every single one before it, and to be honest, I think it was a better game than Street Fighter 4, though.

One thing I'm not happy with, however, is the marketing. They've barely shown any footage off for this thing! I'm sure nobody will mind if I fix that. Sadly, it's all from October and August, but still.

A bit more info on the game and its features, summarized below if you're lazy:

- Story mode will be a bit longer than MK9's.
- There will be quick minigames/QTEs in the story mode that, if done correctly, will hurt your opponent before the start of the fight.
- There will be an option to change the special move inputs from Mortal Kombat style to Street Fighter style, with QCFs and such.
- There will be an option to put the inputs for special moves and combos on the HUD so you can have them for reference.
- There will be an online training mode.

This is... quite honestly, probably going to be the best fighting game to be released this year, and quite likely the best to be released next year, too.

So, hey, this is coming out in my parts tommorow. It'll probably hit the EU regions in the next few days. I'm going to pick up the pre-order I made for it tommorow, I think. I know, I know. In fairness, this is like one of... three modern games I'm in this year, and one is a remake, and the other's 2D, so I think I'm still retro enough.

There's also a demo out on the PS3, if you all happen to have one. It's a little lacking in polish, since it's a much older version of the game, but it should be good enough to get you up to speed on how the game works. It's actually pretty good, and it doesn't play that much like Mortal Kombat at all. It's actually a lot of things. There's a little bit of Marvel VS Capcom in there, a bit of Street Fighter, and some BlazBlue, if you ever played that. There's also the enviromental stuff, which is actually a lot of fun to mess around with.

Also, there are certain people on a certain forum who say this game isn't good. Ignore them. They most likely haven't played it, nor would they probably give you a proper explanation if you asked why.
